Description
What It Is
A concentrated, pure pigment additive for hair color. It comes in vivid, intense shades (Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue, Violet) that are used to intensify or neutralize hair color formulations.
What It Does / Key Features
-
Allows you to adjust tone in permanent, semi‑permanent, or demi‑permanent colors. Use to boost warmth, cool things down, or counteract unwanted tones (e.g. brassiness).
-
Delivers “true‑to‑tone” results: the pigment is formulated to give accurate color when mixed properly.
-
Fade resistant and long‑lasting when used correctly.
-
Works “seamlessly” with certain other Paul Mitchell color systems, especially Paul Mitchell The Color and PM Shines.
Usage & Application Notes
-
You do not use Color Shots by themselves (i.e. not meant as standalone toner or color) in most cases. They are meant to be mixed into other color formulas.
-
The manufacturer gives guidance on how much to use relative to your base color amount. For example (for the yellow shade), recommended amount per 2 oz of base color is 3 “shots”, and maximum 6 shots.
-
When adding to your formula, follow the mixing instructions provided for the base color (developer ratio, timing, etc.). Use gloves, as it is pigment‑rich.
-
Because it’s concentrated pigment, small changes in amount can significantly alter the final tone. It’s wise to do test strand or mix small batches first.
Size / Packaging
-
2 fl oz (≈ 60 mL) bottle.
Limitations / What It’s Not
-
Not recommended for use with certain color systems (e.g. with “lighteners” or some demi formulas) in some cases. Always check compatibility with your color brand and developer.
-
Because of its high pigment, can risk over‑saturation or unintended tone if used too heavily.
